QUESTION OF THE WEEK: “Is It Good To Have Oral Sex?” Dear friends, Thanks for all your comments concerning this issue. I believe everyone shed some light one way or another. I cannot say I have seen any scripture that specifically addresses this issue but I must say the Bible does not cover every little detail of life. We can however rely on the general principles of the Word and the Holy Spirit. In John 16:13, Jesus said, “…When He is come, He will guide us into all truth.” I personally try to avoid living on the edge or outer boundaries of truth. If there is so much room to drive your car, why drive at the edge of a cliff? In other words, why take decisions in a grey area, when you can firmly do that in a white area? I want us to examine a scripture. 1 Corinthians 6:12-13 reads, “All things are LAWFUL unto me, but all things are not EXPEDIENT: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. MEATS for the BELLY, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.” 1. The first thing I want you to notice is, although something may be lawful, it may not be expedient or helpful. The general principle I see then is when you have to choose between something that is lawful but not helpful, you must always choose what is helpful above what is lawful. Medically speaking, I wonder whether oral sex is helpful. I don’t think so; not even in the light of many sexual diseases. 2. The second thing I want you to notice is Paul states that, generally, specific body parts have specific uses. He mentions a specific part, “the belly,” and says it is generally to be used for food. I think the mouth is a close relative of the belly, so let us not go into an extended family system by including the sexual organs.
